On the 21st of September, 2011, a ceremony was held to begin the new academic year 2011/2012 at Hotel Aleksandar Palace, Skopje. Future students, their parents and professors, representatives from the business community and diplomatic corps in Macedonia attended the Opening Ceremony of UACS.
Opening remarks were given by LeAnna Marr, USAID Education Office Director (click here to view a copy of her speech), followed by Steve Parscale, Accreditation Officer from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Mr. Parscale spoke upon the successful strides UACS has made to become an internationally recognized University with American accreditation. He exclaimed how he was proud of our University since it is the only higher education institution among the 27 accredited campuses that show the utmost dedication towards the educational programs and a continuing process of improving the quality of education in the region.
UACS is also the only University south of Vienna that is accredited by ACBSP, which only contributes to the improvement of the image of Macedonian private Universities that attracts foreign students.
Petar Trendafilov was among the top two students with the highest exam scores released from the Summer University Warsaw (SUW), which took place from July 3rd through the 15th, involving almost 50 students participating from many countries all across Europe. Petar distinguished himself from his peers who reside from countries such as Portugal, Germany, South Korea, India, France, Russia, Austria, Australia, England, Canada, and many more (see full article here).
Mr. Sašo Klekovski, Executive Director of the Macedonian Centre for International Cooperation and Vice-president of the Business Council of UACS, distributed scholarships to students.
Students took an oath, as is custom at each Opening Ceremony.
The official beginning of the new academic year was set forth by Rector Marjan Bojadziev, PhD, welcoming the freshman and encouraging them in acquiring practical skills and knowledge to be applied at UACS.
This year's Opening Ceremony was enriched by our own UACS Academic Choir, as it is also one of their first performances. The choir started its existence in February, under the guidance of maestro Ilija Atanasov. It consists of students, faculty and staff from UACS, and with only a handful of performances it shows great promise and was highly received from those in attendance.
